In early summer 2012 myself and actor-director Amber Elliott came together with an idea; to make a short love story on film, based upon Shakespeare's sonnets. These immortal poems are well-known for describing love in all it's glorious confusion; beauty, tenderness, pain, longing, adoration, faith, disappointment..

As Amber and I sat down to read we found ourselves drawn towards three particular sonnets which seemed to weave together naturally to create a narrative. Suddenly there was our structure: three sonnets, three protagonists, three viewpoints. In short, a love triangle.

Filmed at a private Elizabethan hedge maze in a West Sussex and made on a shoestring budget through a process of collaboration, here is the result.

Presenting, The Sonnets Project.

A short love story in three parts, set to the immortal sonnets of William Shakespeare, filmed near Chichester, 2012. Starring Anna Westlake, Richard Keightley and Amber Elliott.
